  • Can I mix Liquitex with Latex?


    Water-based emulsion acrylics belong to a larger group called latex. Most people however are referring to latex house paint when using the term latex

    Can I paint on fabric using Liquitex Acrylics?


     Liquitex Professional Artist Acrylic Colors are the most permanent paints for fabrics. They offer exceptional quality, durability, adhesion and the largest assortment of pure pigments of any professional quality acrylic paint.
     

    Can I reuse an acrylic painted canvas?


    Yes, an acrylic painted canvas can be painted over with both acrylic or oil paints.

    Can I paint on leather with Liquitex Acrylics?


    You can use Liquitex acrylics to paint on leather but care must be used as long-term paint adhesion can be a problem due to variations in surface, thickness, fiber structure, oil content, dye type and tendency to stretch. Always do a test sample.
     

    Can I use Liquitex with other acrylic brands?


    Liquitex should be compatible with most other acrylic products.

    Do Liquitex products contain latex or formaldehyde?


    There is no natural latex used in Liquitex products

    How can I buy Liquitex products?


    While we do not sell our products directly to the public, a very large array of fine art materials retailers do.

    How do I create an acrylic transfer?


    Acrylic Transfers allow you to essentially grab the ink later off a copied or printed material and embed it into the acrylic film.

    How do I use Glossies?


    Liquitex Glossies are water based acrylic enamels formulated to adhere to slick, nonpourous materials such a s glass, tile, glazed certamics, stoneware, china, enamelware, primed metal, wood and other non-oily surfaces.

    How should I store my painting?


    The best storage is in painting racks, separated from touching other paintings.

    I recently upgraded my computer and am having trouble installing Pixel2Paint. How do I get it to run?


     Pixel2Paint is not compatible with Microsoft Windows software newer than Windows XP.

    I want to varnish a mural. How much area does your varnish cover.


    As general rule of thumb 1 gallon of Liquitex Varnish (or 128 ounces) will cover appoximately 400 square feet. 

    How can I remove varnish from my painting?


    All water emulsion varnishes are permanent and therefore not removable.Liquitex Soluvar is removable.

    What is a "hue" color?


    Some colors have a “hue” designation at the end of their name as in Cadmium Red Medium Hue.

    What is a medium?


    Mediums are made with acrylic resin for adjusting how the paint works, feels and looks.

    What is an additive?


     Additives are used to adjust the chemistry of acrylic paints, and they don’t include a significant proportion of acrylic resin.

    What is the shelf life of acrylic paint?


    Provided you store the materials properly, you can expect a 5-7 year shelf life.

    What is Substrate Induced Discoloration (SID)?


    When acrylic mediums are used as a size for some primed or unprimed cotton, linen, wood or hardboard, the water content may draw impurities out of the support as it dries.
