Marci Forbes
- Marci Forbes is a primarily self-taught painter. Born in 1961 she began painting in 1985, to entertain her young daughter.
As a child she longed to discover that her closet had transformed itself into a secret passage... a way to "somewhere else". Though she lacked the language then, she later understood that what she sought was someplace spiritual, magical even. She has found that portal through her painting.
Her earliest work was strictly about the balance achieved through the use of color, shape, and texture. Being endlessly charmed by the paradox of nature's intricate simplicity, it was inevitable that the natural world would become her muse.
She is inspired by things as disparate as the pendent curve of fruit on the vine, the first dust of frost on the lawn, or the long light of an approaching autumn. And whether or not these appear in my work in any recognizable form, their influence is always there.
She has been blessed with a sight that permits a most unique perspective of the world. Her mission is to capture and translate that vision.
