Elizabeth Hoffman graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work combines painting and found objects. She is drawn to the nostalgia and history attached to things that belonged to someone else. She works on several pieces at once, layering the paint, sanding and varnishing. The process, surface and manipulation of paint is just as important as the content of the image.
Elizabeth has an affinity for animals and her dog portrait captures the essence of the animal while echoing Americana themes. She reflects on the history of the hand-made and brings to mind the conversations and knowledge shared during our familial and cultural exchanges.
