Technique:
A unique aspect of Nottebohm’s work is his use of aluminum sheets as painting surfaces. After creating luminous textures on the metal with a variety of tools, he applies numerous layers of glazes using Liquitex Acrylic Colors suspended in Gloss Medium & Varnish. He then applies background color with spray guns and creates additional textures using Liquitex Gloss Gel Medium and various other techniques. Details are added with an Iwata airbrush. The last step is to seal the painting with a coat of Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish.
