Beyond the Nile 45x 65 2002 Acrylic
The Sacred Eye and winged goddesses guard the voyage of a dead man as he passes beyond the Nile in "The Happy Land of the Setting Sun." Re sails through the twelve divisions, or hours, of land and night. Here, the great swallower is a snake identified as "Pythoness Hereret," a former sky goddess. As Re passes from life to afterlife, he is adorned for the birth of the new day. "He who is yonder shall be a living god...."
