At a time when the balance of our environment and sources of food are challenged, I contemplate how to nurture my body, mental space and the people around me. Usually I start my day with a meditation and make a conscious decision to "eat healthy". I love going to the Farmer's Market early in the morning and inspecting the produce -- the
bell-peppers with their sculpted bodies and polished looking surfaces not only tempt me to roast them, but to embark on a creative journey to translate their shiny freshness into a feast-vibrant painting. Making art is food of a different kind to me. Not only do I want my images to be uplifting, but I want the painting process itself to be equally so. As a full-time artist, I work in all media and teach year round classes at the College of Marin, and the Art Works Downtown in Marin County. I am the founder and program director of the Art Work Out Studio, a novel idea to be creative as a group.
