I believe that spirit is part of our experience from which the arts, philosophy, science, magic and all religions of the world derive. Inspired by different people, places experiences throughout my life, my work is a compilation of personal perceptions and interpretations of various subject matters and themes. Each painting has a statement, in which design itself could conceivably hold the idea of originality. Sometimes you get right inside a painting and experience what it is about, other times you may remain on the outside. I believe that you are everything that has ever happened to you and out of those experiences come the things you create. Its a constant state of change so that everything you catch is a momentary thing that is part of an ongoing process that lasts an eternity.
I have been fortunate to have traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and Australia. Having lived in Japan, I understand how different people can be from different places and those observations translate into my work. The patterns that I have used through the years have been inspired by different cultures and religions and have shaped the content and contributed to the energy that permeates my work. The patterns that I have used have been taken from diverse cultures, including Aztec, African, Asian and Aboriginal. By visiting Power Spots or Vortexes, such as the Red Rocks in Sedona, Arizona, the Grand Canyon, Stonehenge and Maui, Hawaii, I am able to translate the energy experienced into my paintings. These helped shape the content and levels of energy in my works.
