Liz Whitney Quisguard
Liz Whitney Quisguard was born in Philadelphia, Pa., October 23, 1929. She graduated from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in 1949. From 1959-1960, Quisguard studied privately with Morris Louis and earned her MFA degree from the Maryland Institute Rhineart School of Sculpture in 1966. Quisguard also received a certificate from the Maryland Institute School of Architectural Design and drafting in 1972.
Quisguard's professional experience includes faculty positions at Baltimore, Hebrew Congregation (1962-1978), Maryland Institute College of Art (1965-1976), Goucher College (1966-1968), University of Maryland (1970-1971), Baltimore
Jewish Community Center (1974-1978), and Villa Julie College (1978-1980). Other positions include, art critic for The Baltimore Sun, theatrical set designer, illustrator for "Shore Writers' Sampler," contributor to various magazines, and guest lecturer at colleges and women's clubs in the Middle-Atlantic region.
Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Andre Emmerich Gallery, New York; Key Gallery, New York; South Houston Gallery, New York; Gallery 707, Los Angeles;Jefferson Place Gallery, Washington D.C.; Arts and Science Center, Nashua New Hampshire; Gannon College, Erie, Pennsylvania; The maryland Institute, Baltimore; and Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.
