Jenny Deck

Horse of a Different ColorHaving lived her entire life of twenty years in the community of El Segundo, California, Jenny Deck was exposed to the art world at an early age. While enrolled at El Segundo High School, she completed four years of art classes and became her art teacher's aide for two years. To supplement her high school experience, she completed a semester long design class during the Fall of 1996 at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Jenny is currently a Studio Arts major at Loyola Marymount University where she plans to continue to learn and grow as an artist.

Jenny has always loved nature. Her paintings try to capture the sense of timelessness and spirituality that can be found in the natural world. She says, "Though my paintings often portray a very singular and familiar theme, the viewer is compelled to look past that to a deeper, more multidimensional essence that reveals many levels of who I am and how I look at life. At the same time, the viewer is drawn into the world of my paintings and even gets lost in them for a while because of their mystery and magical spirit."

The painting process has led Jenny to a deeper self-awareness and discovery of a sensitivity to the details of life. "To grow to appreciate those things often taken for granted and go beyond any personal limitations as an artist is the painting experience," she says. Jenny has gained a new look at life by getting in touch with her own spirituality, as well as a more universal and natural spiritual sense that transcends all of life. "I hope to invoke in the viewer the sense of peace, hope, serenity, and fulfillment that is my painting experience."
