Over $15,000 in cash and products awarded!

Supporting the visual art community is a priority for the people at Liquitex. As part of our on-going efforts, the Liquitex Excellence in Art Purchase Awards have been established to recognize those artists whose pursuit of excellence is demonstrated through their creative use of color, concept and media, with artwork completed primarily in acrylics. Awards totaling over $15,000 in cash and products will be made to artists demonstrating skill and creativity in the use of acrylic paints. A jury of artists and art educators will grant awards in the Professional and Secondary Education categories. The Secondary Education Category is open only to those applicants currently enrolled in High School education.

Professional category (for professionals and serious amateurs): one $5,000 cash + $1,500 in Liquitex products purchase award and four $1,000 cash + $500 in Liquitex products purchase awards.
Secondary category (for students enrolled in high school at the time of application): one $500 cash +
$250 in Liquitex products purchase award and two $250 cash + $100 in Liquitex products purchase
awards.

Artwork selected for the Excellence in Art Purchase Awards will become part of the permanent art collection of Liquitex Artist Materials, and will be published in the August issue of Art In America magazine.

Artwork entered in any competition can be judged only by what can be seen in the slides, so good photography can improve your chances of winning. Blurred images, improper lighting and inappropriate backgrounds can work against your entry.

See submission guidelines.

Entries must be postmarked on or before January 15, 2009 and received by no later than January 30, 2009.

Judging: Entries will be judged by a professional selection committee, comprised of artists, educators and art community leaders, whose decision is final. Works will be judged on creativity, technique, overall appeal of artwork, use of color and media.
