TSCHABALALA SELF

ARTIST RESIDENCY

GRIFFIN GALLERY STUDIOS, LONDON

Tschabalala Self describes her current work as “exploring the emotional, physical and psychological impact of the black female body.” Showcasing an eclectic blend of colors and textiles, Tschabalala's thought-provoking work has featured at solo exhibitions in Rome and London. During her Liquitex Cadmium-Free Research Residency at the Griffin Gallery Studios in London, Tschabalala worked on a large-scale mural for a local charity called Hospital Rooms. Using the safer cadmium-free paints was extremely important to Tschabalala, because she knew her mural would eventually end up in a health facility used by adolescents. Discover how she used our materials during her residency here.
