MORE INFO
What it does
- Gives color a satin finish
- Increases color depth and transparency
- Lowers viscosity of heavier body paints, giving increased flow
- Extends your color further without affecting acrylic stability
- Maintains paint adhesion, durability and archival quality
- Use as a non-removable varnish to protect paintings and establish a satin surface sheen
- Ideal to use as a glue when collaging with lightweight materials
- Transfers printed images
How to use it
- Can be thinned by diluting with up to 25% water - distilled water will give best results
- Mix as much as you like into acrylic color to create the viscosity and transparency you want - the more you add, the thinner and more transparent your color will become
- If bubbles appear when stirring, leave to sit while they rise and disappear
- This is semi-opaque when wet, transparent when dry
- To fix pastel, graphite or chalk, mix 1 part medium to 1 part distilled water and apply with an atomizer or airbrush
- Apply with a brush/sponge as a lightweight collaging glue
- Fully compatible with all Liquitex products
How not to use it
- Do not shake or vigorously over-brush as this can result in a foggy, hazy look when dry
- Do not use with any non-acrylic media

Airbrush Medium FAQs

Yes, Acrylic Ink can be used in your airbrush. We recommend you use it with Liquitex Airbrush Medium for optimum atomisation. Always remember to clean it out immediately after use as you would with any other acrylic media. -
We suggest you first avoid adding water to your paint and minimize heat and air flow in your painting environment. Secondly. make use of acrylic mediums to extend the color, especially Slow-Dri Fluid or Gel, Airbrush Medium or Slow-Dri Fluid or Gel Additive. All of these will extend the open time and workability of your color. Remember that only one additive should be used within a color mix as combining additives can compromise the paint film stability. -
Yes! You can use it to thin all types of color, or to create excellent washes and stains of color. It also gives your paint a watercolor effect.
