MEET CHRISTINA MASSEY

Christina Massey is a mixed media artist using repurposed materials in her colorful organic abstractions. Winner of multiple awards - including a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant in 2023 – Christina’s work is full of pattern and texture, drawing on botanical influences. Her paintings and sculptures have an organic quality and include upcycled man-made items such as ribbons of deconstructed aluminum cans, fencing, fabrics, papers and cable wire. Bursting with life and energy, many escape their frame and run wild.

“My paintings are very dimensional. They can appear very plant-like, organic and wild despite their hard material surfaces. I find a lot of inspiration in environmental art which is not meant to last long at all, but simply as a moment in time that will eventually be taken over by Nature.”
