Meet resident artist, Ari Brochin. Based in New York, Ari transforms everyday objects into whimsical, colorful, larger-than-life art. Her hand-painted pieces blur the line between reality and imagination. Working primarily on wood, she reinterprets the ordinary through a lens that is playful, nostalgic, and deeply human. Memory and humor collide in hyper-real pieces that ask you to look again because the ordinary is anything but.

While at Industry City, Ari focused on using Heavy Body Acrylic to bring everyday accessories to life in giant scale. From a dolphin keychain to hibiscus flower, her work invites viewers to slow down, reconsider the objects they move past each day, highlighting the emotional weight, humor and beauty hidden in plain sight.

Ari have been great Liquitex residents, continuing a long-held mission to share honest behind-the-scenes content on social. Documenting the highs and lows of building a creative life and being a working artist, Ari embraced the opportunity and space to make a mess while making work that headed off to, among other places, the new Zara Laarson ‘Girls Trip’ music pop-up experience.

To keep fresh, balanced and happy, she recommends unplugging and heading outside without your phone and just listening to your thoughts, consuming lots of art, surrounding yourself with good people who energize you, and regularly pushing yourself out of your creative comfort zone by trying something new.
