FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Other creatives have asked us...

Are your professional brushes made with real hair?

No. We use sustainable synthetic filaments for the Liquitex pro range. These are a clean white color and have the perfect responsiveness for acrylic paints.

Can I clean up a brush after the acrylic has dried on? Or should I throw it away?

You can salvage a dried acrylic brush by soaking it in Professional Acrylic Ink Pen Cleaner. Dissolve the paint, rinse, and your brush will be ready for reuse. When cleaning your brushes, it's best to avoid soaking brushes above the ferrule as this can cause the wood of the handle to swell and possibly crack.

Can I use your brushes on my street mural project?

Yes we make a dedicated range of large-scale brushes with really durable bristles to suit masonry and large applications. You can also use our small brushes for fine detail - all the filaments are synthetic and will perform well.

How do I clean my brushes?

To clean your brushes, wipe excess paint, rinse in water (avoid pressing the filaments), wash with hand soap and water, rinse, reshape, and leave to dry. When cleaning your brushes, it's best to avoid soaking brushes above the ferrule as this can cause the wood of the handle to swell and possibly crack.

Unfortunately, I do not recommend it.

"I had two XL brushes. Both fell apart after a year or two of use. With the first one I thought it was because I used it for oil paints and washed it with turpentine. But I took great care of the second one, I used it only for water paints, and in thin layers, the paint did not clog the brush. I tried not to hold it in water, only dipping it halfway down the bristles. In its entirety, I only washed it quickly and then dried it. When it dried, it always hung with the bristles down. Today, when shaking off excess water and shaking it slightly, it simply fell apart. I do not understand why a salary for such money is so poorly attached. The bristles themselves, thickness and size are nice. I regret that it is such a poor product in terms of quality."

Poor quality

"I have bought several large size liquitex brushes in the freestyle range and they have all fallen apart within a few weeks. I look after my brushes and wash with care and still the bristles ha E fallen out in big clumps. The glue holding the bristles in the ferrule of the brush seems very low quality. Very disappointed."
